A little bit about me… because booking a celebrant is about booking someone you’re happy spending a bit of time with.
So first, here's a video about how I (Hannah the celebrant) works and why... and below that , I'll tell you a bit about me as a person (there won't be a quiz at the end)
Thanks for the video & images it contains go to:
I grew up on a sheep farm in Southland. I don’t spend much time on farm now, but I do miss wide open spaces, know how to cook a mean mutton roast and am a whizz at opening (and closing - that’s the important bit!) even fairly bodgey farm gates.
I got lucky and met my husband at a High School production after party when we were 16 and 17. He was the cute red head who had realised signing up for the production was a way to get out of class… and I was just there tagging along with my friend Rose.
We got married in 2006, having been to just one wedding before our own (this 100% informs how I work now, plenty of ideas and guidance)
In my life before celebrancy (B.C.) I worked in radio. I wrote ads and was a newsreader (Good afternoon, I’m Hannah Lind and these are the stories we’ve been following today). Since I was used to using a microphone I was asked by a few friends to do readings during their wedding ceremonies. Once I got used to speaking in front of a crowd (instead of a small room at the end of the hall by myself), I was all about it.
We have two kids and so I totally understand kids cannot be relied on to sit quietly/ stay out of the trees and puddles/ keep their thoughts to themselves/ wear anything but their favourite Paw Patrol outfit.
I love to bake (yes I would like your favourite recipe, please) and sponsor a baking prize in the Central Otago A&P Show every year.
I recently got my first tattoo (and I’m already planning more)!
I read a lot (my favourite genre is apparently defined as ‘cosy crime’), celebrated my 40th birthday with a massive dessert table and an outdoor screening of Dirty Dancing with an interactive game of my own devising
And finally, reckon I could do a decent job of Sir Mixalot’s ‘Baby Got Back’ at karaoke.
That’s me - who are you? Tell me a little bit about yourself and what brings you to my website…
